If I'm right the person depicted is Publius Virgilius Maro, aka Virgile who was born in the year 70 BC in Andes a village near Mantova, that was destroyed by Napoleon Bonaparte. The City is also known as the seat of the Gonzaga dukes. Verdi's opera Rigoletto was situated here
