Some time ago, when I had a flight from Jogyakarta to Denpassar, I looked out of the window of the plane and I saw these Gunung Api, it was a beautiful sight. I think the nearest could be mount Semeru, but I am not so sure about that.

This is in West Java near Tasikmalaya where people were planting Bibit.
Parangtritis in the early morning. I went to Parangtritis from Jogyakarta and arrived around 9 o'clock. The beach was still empty except for this carriage.
Sunset in Kuta, I stayed in hotel Flamboyan on the Jalan Kartika Plaza and went to the beach around 6 o'clock. I could not resist to take a picture of the sunset.
Tanah Lot is a temple located 20 km from Denpasar on the westcoast of Bali.It is said to be build by the priest Nirartha in the 15th century.It is also said the temple is guarded by poisones sea snakes. The beautiful and photogenic sunset at Tanah Lot attracts lot of tourists. 
Sambisari Temple is located at Sambisari village, Purwomartani, Kalasan, East of Jogjakarta. This temple was found accidentally by a farmer working with his hoe on his land in 1966. The temple dates from late in the ninth century and was buried by volcanic eruptions. It took 21 years to restore it to its former beauty. Sambisari has three statues: Agastya south, Ganesha east and Dewi Durga north.

When I was on the train from Bandung to Yogjakarta, I spotted this becak, full of vegatables. I could not resist the urge to make this picture.
This is the house in the Jalan Cipunegara (Bandung) where I lived the first 10 years of my live. It was a spacious house as far as I can remember. When I lived there there was no fence before the house. In the backyard were several trees, the one I remember most is a Jambu tree, I also remember a banana tree and a jeruk bali tree next to the back porch.
This is a house I did not live in. It is the palace of the Indonesian president in Bogor. It was build as a palace for the Governor General, founded by Governor-General van Imhoff in 1744 and rebuilt after being destroyed by an earthquake in 1834. It is situated in near the Botanical Garden (founded in 1817). In the botanical garden is a memorial for Olivia Raffles the wife of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, who was Lieutenant-Governor from 1811 untill 1816, during the British rule of the Dutch Colony.
This is a picture taken in Bandung around 1950. I don't know whether the venue is The Savoy Homann Hotel or the Societeit Concordia, which is now the Gedung Merdeka. My father is seen at left stepping across the flowers that border the dancefloor.

Above is the road from Lembang to Ciater. Lembang is a township near the Tangkubangprahu, the vulcano north of Bandung, and Ciater is wellknown for its hotwater wells. The road is bordered by tea.
These are some happy girls I saw on the road from Garut to Tasikmalaya. Garut and Tasikmalaya are towns in West-Java. My grandfather was stationmaster In Tasik when he died in 1912.
This is a picture of the Cafe Batavia, Taman Fatahillah, in old Jakarta, I had a beer or two there once. It is an old building and still has the atmosphere of old colonial times
The Borobudur is a Buddhist Temple in Central Java 40 kilometers Northwest of Jogyakarta on the Kedu plain. It was build in the 9th century during the peak of the Sailendra dynasty. Nobody knows why it was abandoned, maybe higher volcanic activity caused it. The Kedu plain lies between two twin vulcanoe , Sumbing and Sundoro at one side and Merapi and Merbabu on the other side. During the British administration in the period of 1811-1816 it was rediscoverd, overgrown by the jungle. On an inspection tour to Semarang, Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles was informed of a temple in the jungle and he sent someone to investigate. In 1835 the temple was unearthed. The Borobudur was restaurated in the 20th century with help from Unesco and it is now one of the main tourist attractions of Indonesia.
Indonesia, I love the country, because I was born there. And when you look at the picture, can you blame me for loving it? Unfortunately my great-great-grandparents were born in different countries and therefore my parents, even though they were born there and lived there all their lives, were thrown out of the country when Indonesia became independant. I have been back to Indonesia 6 times and every time I love the country more. I hope to go back there soon. Mencintai Indonesia.
In 1999 I was on my way from Jogyakarta to Bali. My driver, Mudan, suggested to stay in a small hotel at the beach in Pasirputih on the North Coast of East Java. Pasirputih means white sand. Unfortunately the sand was as black as could be. I must have been quite a treat for mosquitos during the night, because when I woke up in the morning I had mosquitobites al over my body. When I got up around 6 am I looked out of the window of my hotelroom and I saw the boat on the picture above. So I did not let the opportunity pass and made this picture. After a morningshower I went for a stroll along the beach when I saw the boat on the second picture. It could have been the same boat.Around 7 am Mudan and I continued our trip to Bali.

The Dieng temples originated in the 8th century and are the oldest temples of Indonesia. They are build on the Dieng Plateau, which is a marshy plateau in the Dieng vulcano caldera. The Dieng Caldera is part of an active vulcano complex located near Wonosobo.
The Bromo in East Java is a active volcano. It is part of the Tengger Caldera. I made this picture in 1998. To be able to tahe this photo I had to get up at 1.30 am. I went with a mini-bus and 2 other guests from the Hotel Helion in Malang to the Caldera. We arrived around 5.30 am and watched the sunrise over the mountains.

This is a picture I made in Taman Safari in Cisarua. Cisarua is a town along the road from Bogor to Bandung. I belief the road is called Jalan Raya Puncak and after Cisarua and Cipanas the road is bordered by tea estates. During the weekends the road is very crowded and it will take several hours to get to your destination. The road is leading to a pass called the Puncak Pass and on top of the pass is a hotel called Puncak Pass Hotel (off course) where you can enjoy the view. The restaurant of the hotel serves Dutch treats like bitterballen.
